Frequently Asked Questions

Why is nutrition important for cancer patients?

Nutrition is crucial for cancer patients as it helps to maintain their health and quality of life during and after cancer treatment. Treatments can be long and exhausting and can cause side effects such as nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, sore mouth and throat, among others. At Nootric, we offer a personalized nutritional program for cancer patients designed to provide all the necessary nutrients to fight the disease and facilitate recovery, while maintaining a healthy weight and improving tolerance to treatment.
Our nutritional plans are also designed to help alleviate the most common side effects associated with cancer treatment. Some examples of side effects that can be greatly improved with a personalized nutritional program are:
  • Loss of appetite or anorexia and alteration of taste, which can lead to insufficient nutrient intake.
  • Nausea and vomiting that can lead to malnutrition.
  • Changes in bowel habits (diarrhea or constipation).
  • Mucositis or mouth/neck sores, which can make it difficult to take in food and nutrients.
  • Dry mouth or xerostomia, which causes difficulty swallowing or chewing.
  • Weight changes, depending on the treatment there may be weight loss or weight gain.
Rather than simply focusing on what patients should not eat, our approach is to provide a wide variety of easily digestible foods that contain the necessary nutrients to help fight the disease and improve quality of life.
In addition, at Nootric we understand that infection prevention is essential for oncology patients, especially during treatment. That's why our nutritional plans also include food safety measures to prevent infections and ensure that patients receive the nutrients they need safely and effectively.
According to the pilot study carried out in 2022 by the Hospital Universitario del Vinalopó, together with Nootric, in oncohematological patients, it has been observed that a correct nutritional follow-up of the patient allows to obtain a positive cost-effectiveness ratio, early detection of derived problems and therefore anticipation of complications, decrease the burden of the caregiver (if any), and finally a significant improvement in the quality of life.
Nootric's Nutritional Program for Cancer Patients is designed to help cancer patients maintain adequate nutrition and optimize their response to treatment, while alleviating side effects and promoting recovery. With our personalized approach and team of expert dietists, we are committed to helping patients achieve their health and wellness goals during their cancer treatment.
